Imagine stumbling upon a mysterious mound -the surface littered with strange objects.... is this a midden?   Middens are really ancient dump sites -  dig down and you will find old pottery shards, the remnants of many meals and other implements.  They are hard to find according to scholars,requiring a good eye, soil chemistry tests and the like...but I like to imagine that these little mounds represent the wide range of midden landscapes.  Find them and find a midden! 

My earlier middens perhaps looked a bit too much like boobs at least according to the many women who gave them a squeeze.  I have taken them down a cupsize or two so there is a mere hint of elevation.  I hope this version enables one to explore the notion of a midden unencumbered by the thoughts of boobs.
